Hinoki Fun Festival (4/19/11)

Hinoki International school, located in Livonia, will hold a free children’s festival on Tuesday, April 19th from 10:00AM to 2:30PM. Fun activities and demonstrations will be held for children from three to seven years of age.

10:00-11:30: Great Lakes Taiko Center. Taiko means “great drum” in Japanese. The bold resonating sounds of these ancient drums create a powerful visual and audio experience.
12:00-1:00: Fun with Origami and Crafts.
1:00-2:30: African Music by Sunkwa. Sunkwa translates as “cry for life” in the language of Twi from Ghana; rich mesmerizing African xylophone based music.

Founded in 2010, the school will operate Kindergarten and Grade 1 classes for the 2011-2012 academic year. The K-6 program is
built on both Michigan Department of Education and Japanese Ministry of Education Standards, with curriculum developed in
cooperation with a strong international academic advisory committee, led by Eastern Michigan University.

The school is a no-tuition public charter, with enrollment open to all children residing in Michigan.
